The project of the sport and health centre Dorigny was designed as a space dedicated to sports for health and wellness: better physical conditions, body expression, tests, diagnosis and training.
Its rounded shape indicates the end of the architectural evolution of the area and, at the same time, the opening to the nature and sports facility such as the stadium, through its wide windows and the porch.
The aim was to realise a building that suggested the health. This explains the simplicity of the shapes and the openings, with a particular color choice of the exterior ceramic thermal coat to underline the great importance of the natural light, that is remarked outside (with the ventilated facade) and in the interiors of the building.
The building had to adjust different spaces that different sports need in a solid shape, without being excessive, but coordinated with the existing landscape.
It was realised respecting MINERGIE-ECO criteria, the most stricted regulations in Switzerland and in Europe in terms of low energy consumption for heating and electricity, thanks to the exterior ventilated facade.
The unusual size of the porcelain tiles 80x80cm for the exterior has been fundamental to give a great impact to the exterior ventilated facade that supports the thermal insulations.
