The multipurpose complex ZIP takes its name from the jutting volumes of the porcelain stoneware facade, reminiscent of the typical form of a zipper. The buildings have been realised inside Brigittenau district in Vienna and are characterised by various functions. They houses a social center, different types of apartments, a recreation area and a green oasis on the roof.
Its rectangular shape facilitates the developing of a linear structure that arises among the other buildings. However the structure covered by the exterior thermal coat, with an innovative use of volumes of the different functional areas and materials used, allows obtaining a people-oriented building.
As if it was a bridge over the city coming and going, the transparent flooring of the low ground revives the images of the city, creating an elegant dialogue between interior and exterior.
The ventilated facade with ceramic tiles of Stontech collection by Floor Gres supplies the typical wall insulation given by the exterior thermal coat made of ceramic materials.
