The DIFFA fundraiser for combating HIV/AIDS – Center 415, Fifth Avenue (24 – 26 March, New York)
This year, Florim is again proud to confirm its support for the DIFFA (Design Industries Foundations Fighting AIDS) foundation during its annual fundraising event.
The occasion brings together thousands of supporters to promote awareness raising and the fight against HIV/AIDS and involves the top design and architecture firms in an immersive challenge to construct artistic installations that invite people to interact and share experiences.
The installations will be open to visitors during the show’s opening hours – on the evening of 24 March there will be a tasting extravaganza with an initial preview of the installations and a performance by a Broadway musical company; this will be followed on 25 March by a dance party and opening for visitors, which will also continue on the next day together with shopping and design talks.
This year’s Florim space has been designed by the Perkins Eastman architecture firm and features a sculpture in which different materials merge to convey a sense of “fluidity”, in a design which aims to encourage people to connect with and support each other.
The installation combines craftsmanship, technology and innovation and mixes different materials – hand-painted textiles interweave with our ceramic surfaces (Magnum Oversize large slabs of 160×320 cm from the Les Bijoux de Rex and Flowtech/ collections), which almost seem to bend and curve in a structure that promotes both movement and sharing.
