Beautiful, sustainable facades: “Design2Curtain”, a joint project by Florim and Schüco Italia

Integrated design at the service of quality architecture: these are the cornerstones shared by Florim and Schüco Italia.

Leading brands in their respective sectors (building envelope and ceramic surfaces), the two companies have paved a path of investment in innovation and sustainability, key factors underlying their growth, as well as the uniqueness and identify of their work.

Hence Design2Curtain is born: a facade system made of aluminum frames, characterized by fixed and openable elements that can be integrated and concealed, allowing the side-by-side placement of glass and porcelain stoneware ceramic slabs.

The innovative system guarantees high levels of thermal and acoustic insulation in addition to weather resistance in line with the highest market standards, while also enhancing the visual appeal of buildings.

All the advantages of the aluminum frame system are thus combined with the benefits of large Florim slabs. A “special” solution through which the facade design assumes a versatile and “tailor-made” appeal, representing the most varied graphic expressions, from marble to stone, from solid color to wood or cement.

A mechanical fixing mechanism combined with structural glue means the stoneware slabs can be used either as an external building finish or interior decorative element.

The porcelain stoneware slabs are also an excellent material for guaranteeing the insulation of the building envelope. The cavities of the facade can in fact be filled with special insulating and soundproof materials, making it possible to achieve very high performance levels, especially compared to facades with glass infills only. Moreover, the opaque surfaces offer enormous advantages in terms of thermal efficiency, reducing energy consumption levels for both heating and cooling.

The efficiency of the Schüco aluminum frame facade system is one of the main features of this type of construction. From conception through to on-site installation, the facade cells, which are assembled prior to their arrival on-site, guarantee the utmost quality of each single element and systematic, easy-to-manage installation.
