New Future Treasures

CEDIT follows its penchant for experimentation and explores the virtual reality of the metaverse with a digital project that spans the past, the present and the future. CEDIT’s ten ceramic collections today become the stars of a collection of Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs).

Ten New Future Treasures are presented as “items rediscovered in the future”, in a landscape where coexisting references and symbolism hearken back to the historical ruins of classicism. It is a journey between art and design that weaves together different expressive languages to come to land in an almost dreamlike world.

This project perfectly sums up CEDIT’s DNA, strongly geared toward experimentation and firmly rooted in the culture of beauty, art, design and architecture. The ten NFTs uniquely seal individual works-collections as digital artifacts, making their representation unique.

The New Future Treasures NFTs are on sale on the Rarible platform and proceeds are donated to the Save the Children Fund.

The event

In conjunction with Milan Design Week 2022, the Spazio CEDIT showroom in Milan hosted an installation that served as a “portal” to a timeless virtual museum which invites visitors to experience the enjoyment of art and design in a novel way. Hosted on the  Bit Hall website, it is a true virtual art gallery which has its physical entrance in Foro Buonaparte and which then continues with a virtual experience on the visitor’s smartphone or other suitable device. Indeed, the exhibition makes it possible for visitors to move around and view dynamic NFTs.

New Future ARALDICA

A large ceramic slab with a hypnotic charge releases its expressive force silhouetted against a background surrounded by classical architectural elements. The result of the stylistic signature of Federico Pepe, a multifaceted and creative artist, Araldica is inspired by marbled papers and invokes a carousel of allusive visual perceptions on its surface. In a timeless place, where coexisting references and symbolism hearken back to the historical ruins of classicism, the slab serves as a projection from the future.

New Future CHIMERA

Nestled in a bucolic landscape with the ruins of a classical temple at its center, large ceramic surfaces with an intense symbolic charge stand out like large columns. The splendors of the past come face to face with modernity, narrated with flair and imagination by the designer Elena Salmistraro on the slabs of the Chimera collection. It is a journey through time, where the fantasy universe inspired by nature and the chimera of the grotesque tradition is projected as an extroversion of the future.

New Future ARCHEOLOGIE

Past and contemporary archaeologies coexist in a timeless place, awash with classical references, that chronicles the discovery of a slab-relic. Originating from the pictorial cipher of the artist Franco Guerzoni, Archeologie uses the ceramic surface to tell of a journey through experience, memories, signs and symbols which the walls have absorbed over the centuries. The technique of “detachment of wall paintings” results in a colorful mantle destined to survive into the future, and even to become memory itself.

New Future RILIEVI

Geometric 3D elements play on the ceramic surface, creating an effect of light and shadow that restores a sense of architectural depth. Rilievi is a design invention signed by the Zaven studio, a “rediscovery” from the future that stands out in a timeless past steeped in references to Classicism. Rilievi as a “rediscovered item”.

New Future CROMATICA

In a mysterious metaphysical landscape, where the eye is compelled to search for the order of the elements, there stands Cromatica, a large slab in pastel pink hue that lures the eye to the center of the scene. The ceramic work deliberately “breaks down” into a series of strips which, while moving, summon a gradation of color tones and generate a sense of confusion. It is a dream imbued with sensuality and mystery that enraptures eye and mind alike.

New Future EURIDICE

On a timeless wall illuminated by the reflections of water, a slab-painting abandons itself to the setting sun. The rough canvas of Euridice, which expresses Giorgio Griffa’s pictorial cipher on the ceramic surface, restores a sense of apparent calm. Much like a relic, by means of a series of signs the slab narrates the memory of gesture taught by the Paleolithic people. It is nothing less than the past being transmitted to the future.

New Future MATRICE

On the ruin of a classical capitol surrounded by water, Matrice allows itself to be warmed by the balmy rays of sunset. The brainchild of BRH+, a large ceramic slab conveys a sense of concreteness and rigor with its dense pattern of red-dyed geometries, an almost dreamlike landscape where the past relinquishes itself to the future.

Policroma’s geometric recurrence blends into a metaphysical landscape on the border between dreamworld and reality. The large ceramic slabs designed by Cristina Celestino dialog with the surrounding context, interweaving mnemonic narratives with injections of the contemporary, thereby constituting a new iconology of floor and wall coverings.

New Future STORIE

Under a starry sky, amid the ruins of a neoclassical portico, stands a slab-fresco that conjures up memories of the passage of time on matter. Stories of traces of mural decorations and ancient plasterwork, evocations that have never failed to fascinate Zanellato/Bortotto designers, spring back to life on the ceramic surface and find themselves mysteriously immersed in a landscape more ancient than they themselves can evoke.

The precious textures of Tesori emerge unexpectedly among the desert dunes, unleashing their expressiveness. All around is a scene of apparent calm, wherein lie the undisturbed ruins of a distant past. Wantonly, the large ceramic surface of Tesori, conceived by architect and designer Matteo Nunziati, becomes the centerpiece of a journey between past, present and future that takes on the trappings of a fascinating cultural exchange.
