The capsule collection Hotel Chimera designed by Elena Salmistraro for CEDIT – Ceramiche d’Italia (a Florim brand) has been included in the ADI Design Index 2022, a prestigious publication by ADI that annually compiles the best innovations in Italian design.

The ceramic work is among the 248 selected products and is competing for the Compasso d’Oro ADI 2024.

Created by artist and designer Elena Salmistraro, who in 2020 designed the “Chimera” collection for CEDIT (a Florim brand), the capsule collection is a composition of 80 different fragments, each of which is a standalone ceramic artwork. Each piece, numbered and hand-signed by the author, was auctioned, with the proceeds donated to support the project “Doppio senso. Percorsi tattili alla Collezione Peggy Guggenheim”, an initiative by the Venetian museum aimed at introducing the world of art to the blind and visually impaired, but open to everyone in an inclusive manner. The initiative, temporarily suspended due to Covid, resumed this year with the restart of events in October.

The “Hotel Chimera” capsule collection seamlessly blends design and sustainability, conveying a social and charitable message – perfectly in line with the values of the CEDIT brand and Florim’s commitment (Florim has been a Benefit Corporation and certified B Corp since 2020).

Claudio Lucchese, President of Florim SpA SB, commented: “Being included in such an important publication, which features products and design projects, fills us with pride. With Elena Salmistraro, a beautiful synergy has been created and strengthened, resulting in a project that goes beyond design to support art and culture. This achievement seals the expressive vitality of a talented designer, Florim's push for innovation, and its commitment to social responsibility as also outlined in its Statute.”

Elena Salmistraro stated: “I am happy to collaborate with Florim – a stimulating partnership that has allowed me not only to express my creativity on ceramic surfaces but also to transform design into an inclusive experience. This prestigious recognition adds to the one received with the “Chimera” collection, and I feel doubly honored, especially in light of the values this work carries with it.”
