The “CEDIT per Object” Prize has been assigned to Souvenir of the last Century Stool 05, 2015, by Studio Nucleo (ammann//gallery, Colonia). The winner – officially named on Saturday 14 April – was selected from the “Object” section of miart, dedicated to designer projects and collectors’ items.
The international jury consisting of Silvana Annicchiarico (Director of the Triennale Design Museum, Milan), Christopher Turner (Keeper at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London) and Stefano Torrenti (CEO of Florim Ceramiche) explained his choice with the following grounds:
“The collection of entries was impressive in its diversity this year, which suggests the Italian design landscape is healthy and vibrant. We all agreed that Studio Nucleo is one of the most important and exciting contemporary design studios in Italy. The stool we have chosen as the winner of the “CEDIT per Object” Prize is a particularly poetic representation of their work. It deserves a place in the Triennale’s permanent collection as a notable piece in the ongoing story of Italian design”.
The winning work will be officially presented at the DESIGN NIGHT on Wednesday 18 April (6.30 – 11 pm) at the Florim Flagship Store in Milan (Foro Buonaparte 14) and will remain on display for the whole month. With Souvenir of the last Century Nucleo has restored and preserved memories, mummifying fragments from the past, and mixed it up with the physical presence and the action, of now. The work was purchased by Florim Ceramiche and will donated to the Permanent Collection of the Triennale Design Museum in Milan to assist in the promotion of culture through support for art and design.
